Clinico-pathological Analysis of Adenonyosis


Abstract
A retrospective study of adenomyosis 78 cases among the surgically removed uteri 580 =cases was done during 5 years period January, 1980 through December, 1984. The results ¢¥obtained were summarized as follows;
1. Histo-pathological examination of 580 uteri showed adenomyosis in 78 cases, an incid-
ence of 13.8%.
2. The highest age incidence was in 5th decade of age group, an incidence of 57.7% and the mean age was 44.7 year old.
3. Adenomyosis was more likely to occur in the multiparous than nulliparous women such as 94. 9%, 5.1% respectively.
4. A uterine weight of adenomyosis increased more than the normal and there were 46 1 % in 81-120gm. group of uterine weight.
5. Dysmenorrhea, pelvic pain and meno-metrorrhagia were the common symptoms If the adenomyosis and there were 6.4% in symptomless group.
6. There were only 6.4% in preoperative diagnosis of the adenomyosis.
7. Chronic pelvic inflammatory disease and myoma uteri were common associated die ase in the adenomyosis, an incidence of 46.2%, 25.6% respectively.
8. Secretory phase of endometrium was the most frequent endometrial findings of ade omyosis, an incidence of 43.6¡Æ0 and the proliferative phase, 26.9%.
